Monday. We had a state-of-the-website message from Tim Westbrook,
who's doing a noble job of getting us set up for a new website system
in partnership with Trinity Church and the Diocese. The Transition
Committee is, as you already know, almost done distributing the Parish
Questionnaires. PLEASE FILL YOURS OUT. We had reports on the progress
of each of the segments of the Profile information above and beyond
the material on the questionnaire (please fill yours out!), all of
which are coming along. The bulk of the meeting was given over to
thinking about how to make the Profile look, in terms of its design
and structure, as interesting and lively as we know the Parish to be.
The profile will be our primary method of putting ourselves out to the
larger community and making ourselves known to potential candidates,
and many of the profiles we've looked at are, bluntly, booooring. We
aren't boring. So the SC had a good deal of fun shooting ideas
around, and even keeping in mind the need to be financially efficient,
there are a number of creative and intriguing ways to go. Which brings
up the matter of money. We can't precisely budget for the search
process--there are too many changeable factors that can bear on it,
but it might be good for you all to know two things (especially since
stewardship season is approaching): 1. this process does involve a not
inconsiderable expenditure of funds and 2. the funds available for the
search process do control how broadly we are able to search (some
version of regionally vs. nationally). Please fill out and return
your questionnaire. Given how well things are going, I can only
conclude that your prayers and good thoughts are working, so keep 'em
going, please.
